The creative team at Antiantiart, led by director Lf.pvnirvana, employed innovative capture techniques to bring the vision to life. A custom bullet-time rig with 30 Canon 200D Mark II cameras was used for Gaussian Splatting, capturing a traditional bull-racing festival in An Giang. This data was then composited with Sơn Tùng M-TP's green screen footage. Additionally, Sơn Tùng M-TP underwent volumetric capture to create immersive virtual environments while maintaining the natural nuances of his performance. The film aimed to reinterpret Vietnamese cultural imagery through contemporary technology, using real-world captures to preserve authenticity across diverse Vietnamese settings, all while maintaining a precise and polished lighting aesthetic.

Xangle Studio demonstrates its 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) capability by comparing rendering times for a complex visual. The digital calibration and MP4 export of the top section of the visual required 4 seconds. In contrast, the Gaussian Splat version of the same visual, which involved splat training and sequencer export, took 90 seconds to render. This comparison highlights the distinct processing requirements and performance metrics associated with different rendering techniques within Xangle Studio's workflow.

This project, documented as episode 255, demonstrates an innovative application of 3D scanning technology beyond its typical use for human subjects. Pare's work often involves pushing the boundaries of photography and light, and this experiment showcases a creative intersection with advanced scanning techniques. My multi-camera rig wasn’t designed to scan objects. It was built to scan humans. Humans move, breathe, blink, and refuse to float mid-air. To capture them properly in 3D, everything needs to happen in a fraction of a second. But can we scan objects with it? Yes. And in this video, I explain when it actually makes sense to do so. We break down two specific use cases where a human-scale photogrammetry rig outperforms traditional object scanning: high-volume production and capturing objects in motion. From scanning hundreds of items in a single day to freezing a falling object from every angle at once, this is where “overkill” becomes the right tool. The intensive work, spanning months of research and study, aims to establish new research methodologies, broaden access to Italy's cultural assets, and make them available internationally. Splice Boys achieved a world-first by producing a commercial entirely with 3D Gaussian Splats and a custom-built light field array. This innovative approach transformed traditional volumetric capture, typically confined to controlled studio environments, by integrating it into a fast-paced commercial production. The team customized each volumetric rig to meet the specific demands of diverse scenes and locations, adapting camera array layouts, lensing, rigging, and movement logistics while adhering to a tight schedule. This method allowed every scene to become an editable volumetric 3D asset, providing directors and editors unprecedented control to reframe shots and animate cameras in post-production. These versatile assets are also deployable across virtual production, XR, mixed reality, interactive web, and other spatial platforms.

“Behind the Scenes” of the world’s first commercial made end-to-end using 3D Gaussian Splats and a custom-built light field array. A process like volumetric capture is traditionally staged in clinical environments labs or controlled studios and often used to create digital humans. We turned that model on its head and brought it into the fast-paced, unpredictable world of TVC production. Without compromise, we customised each volumetric rig to suit the unique demands of every scene and location, adapting to on-set challenges as they came. That meant rethinking everything: the layout and lensing of the camera array, the physical logistics of rigging, and movement constraints all while staying on track with a demanding commercial shoot schedule. This custom configuration of multiple synchronised cameras captured the light field of each scene from a wide range of angles, allowing the data to be processed using 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) a cutting-edge method for representing complex environments with photorealistic fidelity. In our project, this meant every scene became a volumetric 3D asset, editable in post not just in 2D, but in full 3D space. We were able to reframe shots, animate cameras, and build the commercial volumetrically after the shoot, giving directors and editors a new level of control and creative freedom. But it doesn’t stop there. These assets are no longer limited to traditional flat-screen storytelling. They are now deployable across Virtual Production, XR, Mixed Reality, interactive web, and emerging spatial platforms. The team collaborated with Publicis Worldwide, who supported the new imaging system and integrated it with creative direction from ECD Ryan Petie. Eric Paré demonstrates a sophisticated bullet-time photography technique, freezing time with a 64-camera array. This method employs flashes triggered precisely at the midpoint of a 1/30-second exposure, with a single wireless trigger on camera 64 signaling two flashes. The Xangle Camera Server software automates the entire process, including the automatic dimming of ambient lights to prevent ghosting. This setup, managed solely via Ethernet and USB, requires no additional electronic equipment. The same innovative technique is integrated into Xangle's photogrammetry kits, showcasing advanced capabilities in high-speed capture.

How to perfectly freeze time using 64 cameras? Use flashes! On this one, I have one wireless trigger on camera number 64 which sends the signal to the two flashes exactly halfway during the exposure (1/30s). Notice how the ambient lights turns off automatically to avoid any ghosting. This is all automated within the software (Xangle Camera Server) without using any additional electronic equipment (everything is managed by Ethernet and Usb). Xangle Studio used Xangle Camera Server to automate 200 cameras for a multi-camera photogrammetry station. The system used light to freeze the subject, Kim Henry, by synchronizing ambient lights and strobes with the cameras' exposure.

One of the main challenges in a multi-camera photogrammetry station is triggering all cameras in sync to capture a subject in motion. Even with a precision of 1 ms across all 200 cameras, the mechanical shutter is simply not accurate enough. In this demo, we show how we overcome this limitation by relying on light to freeze the subject. The ambient lights (led strips) go off at the end of the countdown (providing a clear indication for the dancer), and then the 4 strobes fire simultaneously, exactly in the middle of the camera's exposure (with a 1/30s shutter speed).
